Cairn Gorm Mountain is Britain’s 6th highest mountain and lies 9 miles east of Aviemore, just off the A9 to Inverness in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park.
The UK’s highest funicular railway takes visitors on a spectacular journey from the Base Station at 635m (2083ft) to the Ptarmigan Top Station 1097m (3598ft) above sea level and just below the summit of Cairn Gorm at 1245m (4084ft) – Britain’s 6th Highest Mountain.
CairnGorm is Britain’s most popular winter sports destination with 11 ski lifts including the funicular railway and over 30km of pisted runs suitable for beginners to experts. There is also a terrain/fun park for freestyle enthusiasts.
In winter the Cairngorms offer some of the most challenging ice climbing in the UK. Visitors can check out the conditions at the Ranger Base and leave their route cards there. Returning they can catch the down train to the Cas Bar’s welcoming log fire.
In the months when we are not offering snowsports one of the highlights when you visit here is to go walking in the area. The Walk at the Top and the Guided Northern Corries Walk are accompanied by an experienced guide.
The other facilities at CairnGorm include the Shop @ the Top, Mountain Shop, Ptarmigan Restaurant and Cas Bar, Ski Hire, Ski School, Mountain Ranger Service and Ranger Base, Wild Mountain Garden, All Abilities Walking Trail and Camera Obscura.
